The end of Retro.

Well it is actually happening.  The beloved Retro Roast and Fountain, which Justin has worked at the last 2 years, is actually closing.  With about a week and a half's notice, Heidi Rosati has decided its best to close Retro's doors this Saturday for good.  Justin has devoted 40 hours a week to this job since July of 2006 and it just won't be the same without it.  Though Retro's lease isn't up until February, Heidi didn't want to go into the Christmas Holiday and into the next financial year when she knew it would just keep losing money.
Last Wednesday was a sad day for us when Justin and I found out the news.  Though the open sign wont go on again after Saturday, Heidi and Bill both reassured Justin that he and even his friends can come in any time and use up ice cream, coffee, whatever until its gone!  On the upside, Heidi did mention something about a "retro inheritance" so he won't be left stranded.

So motivator Danielle came out of the closet and eager rushed Justin to update his resume and apply at as many places as he can.  Jobs are pretty scarce right now, but hopefully with his management background and awesome references he will get an even better job!

Well guess what, it seems are prayers are starting to be answered.  I had some strange feeling about Caribou Coffee that I made Justin stay up one n
ight until he finished it online.  After he did, the next day he went into the Medina Caribou, talked to the manager who knew of retro and seemed to like Justin and said she would personally get his resume offline and hand it to the district manager.  Within 24 hours, Heidi Rosati got a call from some guy up in corporate asking is Justin was "too good to be true".  Heidi reassured him that he definitely was real, explained the situation why he was leaving and told him just how awesome Justin is.

Just wait...it gets better.

The guy told heidi about the LONG LAKE caribou needing a new manager at the end of the month and though it usually takes 2 months to go t
hrough the caribou training, because Heidi used to work for one and sort of used it as a model for retro and Justin is well aware of the managing of a coffee shop, he said he is going to talk to whomever he has to in order to try to get Justin that store... especially knowing that retro is closing and how so many costumers will definitely be willing to drive to long lake for some awesome Justin lattes.  :-)

Not to mention that Caribou Managers make at least double the salary that Justin used to make plus benefits and bonuses.

I'm so proud of him.... Though nothing is official, keep your fingers crossed and him in your prayers!

Though Retro will be dearly missed, I'm thankful for the motivation it has giving Justin to find something better for himself and excited for our future.
